Course Description
This course provides the information needed to recognize infants and children at risk for cardiopulmonary arrest. PALS also emphasizes strategies needed to prevent cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children The class reviews the cognitive and psychomotor skills needed to resuscitate and stabilize infants and children in respiratory failure, shock or cardiopulmonary arrest.
Pediatric Education for Pre-Hospital Professionals (PEPP) has been integrated into the PALS course. This addition includes comprehensive instruction filled with prehospital medical information for the emergency care of infants and children. PEPP is designed to give prehospital professionals the education, skills and confidence they need to effectively treat pediatric patients. Developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics, PEPP specifically teaches prehospital providers how to better assess and manage ill or injured patients.
Pre-Requisites
The student must possess a valid AHA BLS provider certification.
